The Consumer Arrival of Windows Vista
Monday, January 29, 2007 9:23Well, it’s almost here. Windows Vista officially arrives tonight at midnight..
There are numerous events going on to hype the official consumer arrival of Windows Vista tonight at midnight. One of the more interesting events is at selected locations of Circuit City. They have a lot going on tonight, including appearances by NFL football players, free food, prizes, giveaways, and a lot more. They will also be open very late, I think way past midnight.
I can’t help but wonder if there is something to learn here from I.T. professionals, though. They usually wait about a year before deploying a new Windows Operating System to a company’s enterprise-wide applications. I.T. managers consider new Microsoft products, especially something as significant as an entire Operating System, “bleeding edge” during the first year of its release. Do they know something we don’t?
I plan to wait. I am concerned about the compatibilty of all my peripherals under Vista. I am also thinking of Macintosh again. There is something about Macs that I find glitzy and very appealing. We’ll see.
