iPad: A Computer Paradigm Shift?
Monday, May 3, 2010 17:21Reading a news report that Apple has sold 1 million - yes, folks - 1 million iPads in one month, got me thinking. (I know - warning - danger lies ahead).
The amazing popularity and demand for the iPad could signal an impending paradigm shift for computing as we now know it.
The iPad is fun to use and can be utilized productively, as well. Now, I would be the first to admit that it is not a total laptop replacement, but wait. Implementing a few more tweaks and improvements with future versions, and the iPad could eventually reach that point. Multitasking is just around the corner. The bottom line is that touch computing is a huge hit, it’s here to stay and Apple is the clear winner.
Heck, even HP has dropped their much ballyhooed Slate tablet computer project (techies say that the Windows Operating System is not inherently touch screen friendly anyway).
Another interesting trend is that older computer users are gravitating to the iPad. Turns out they love the ease of reading, “grabbing” type on screen for magnification, etc. lus it’s huge appeal to demographics across the board, as has already been firmly established.
Fascinating stuff. And it’s gonna get even more interesting.
